In a powerful partnership aimed at creating lasting impact, Big Box Containers was proud to support ThengWood - a twinning school initiative between Iphutheng Primary School in Alexandra and Norwood Primary School, in their mission to build a better, safer future for learners and their families.
Recognising the growing need for emotional and psychological support within school communities, ThengWood recently launched a remarkable project: the conversion of a shipping container into a fully equipped Anti-Bullying Safe Space. This innovative facility provides a secure environment where children and parents can access counselling, ICT learning, virtual reality experiences, and music therapy - all designed to foster healing, confidence, and growth.
Available seven days a week, the safe space is staffed by a qualified counsellor and is open to both learners and their families. It’s more than just a quiet room; it's a sanctuary of support, empowerment, and opportunity.
Big Box Containers was honoured to assist in converting the container into this modern, functional, and welcoming space. Our modular container solutions allow schools like ThengWood to think outside the box - literally - and use space in creative and socially impactful ways.
ThengWood’s work hasn’t gone unnoticed. The Gauteng Department of Education has formally recognised the school’s innovation and dedication, featuring the initiative prominently on their platforms. It’s a shining example of how collaboration and creative thinking can transform not just spaces, but lives. ThengWood now encourages other schools and educational institutions to follow suit - invest in creating safe spaces where children feel heard, valued, and protected.
At Big Box Containers, we believe in more than just steel and structure - we believe in building communities and enabling change.
